How are presenters selected?

Oral presentations and a select number of poster presentations are nominated at the discretion of the advisor; each participating research group is allotted one speaking slot in our day-long symposium. After all nominees have responded, the Organic Retreat Committee opens poster presentation abstract submissions to postdocs and graduate students of all participating research groups. Due to limited space, abstract submissions will be judged by the committee to best represent the diversity of research currently ongoing in the department.

When are abstracts due?

Abstracts for poster presentations should be submitted by Friday, May 5

What if I've already registered for the retreat but I want to submit an abstract for consideration?

Register again! We'll take care of repeat registrations.

When will I hear back about my abstract submission for a poster presentation?

You can expect to hear back from the organizing committee approximately a week after abstracts are due.

When are oral presentation titles + abstracts due to the organizing committee?

All speakers should email their titles + abstracts (250 words max) to the organizing committee at organicretreat2023@mit.edu by Friday, May 5. Please see the presenter guidelines for slide formatting and other information.
